Britain’s next ‘it’ designer Gareth Pugh, who showed his anticipated collection in Paris yesterday,  was awarded the seal of approval from Kaiser Karl himself.

According to Grazia, fashion legend Karl Lagerfeld sent flowers to congratulate the young British designer on his Parisian debut.

‘I was really pleased with how the show went but when Karl sent me flowers that was just the icing on the cake,’ Gareth told Grazia.

Britain should be so proud of him.

Amy Winehouse has committed a fashion crime. Yes, indeed.

She borrowed £25,000 worth of designer frocks from London’s Harvey Nichols and returned them with vomit stains. There was even a furry mold growing on the satin and silk gowns that made them unwearable.

Harvey Nichols has now asked for their £25k back.

The 2008 Best Cover to be announced in October

The American Society of Magazine Editors have announced their nominations for the best covers of the year.

Which cover was the most memorable in 2008? For us, fashionistas it  was Marc Jacobs’ ode to Andy Warhol in Interview magazine. The other finalists are Vanity Fair, New Yorker, GQ, and The New York Time Magazine’s covers.

The winners will be revealed on Monday, October 6, during the morning general sessions of the American Magazine Conference in San Francisco, CA.

Mango is the first international retail brand to open a store in Iraq

Spanish high street brand Mango announced that it will open a store in war-torn Iraq. According to WWD, the company asked Lebanese designer Zuhair Murad to create a special collection that respects the region’s covered-up style, which may include head scarves and veils.

The store will be located in the Kurdish city of Arbil, an area that has seen sporadic violence—a May 2007 suicide truck bombing killed at least 14 people and wounded 87—since the war began. “We like to have a challenge,” Isak Halfon, Mango’s president of expansion, told WWD.

Julia Restoin-Roitfeld is adding a new item to her modeling resume. The daughter of French Vogue editor Carine Roitfeld, was chosen as the fall face of Accessorize, the British fashion accessories chain.

The campaign will be released in the U.K. later this week, with visuals also to be used for in-store promotion in the brand’s European stores. The Accessorize campaign, photographed by Enrique Badulescu and styled by Russian Vogue’s Simon Robbins, was shot in Greenwich Village, reports WWD.
