New York Fashion Week on your phone

Author: admin  //  Category: Fashion News

We have more reasons to love our digital century. STYLE.COM is introducing an iPhone application, that will allow us to watch runway shows — within hours of the last model’s exit from the catwalk — right on our on phones, during the upcoming New York Fashion Week. Morning shows should be available by afternoon, and evening shows the next morning.

We’re not exalted fashionistas, but it’s the best thing that could happen in September, for those who have no tickets to the shows in Bryant Park.

Brad Pitt is a photographer? What surprising news!

This is Pitt’s first time creating a cover, although photography has been a longtime hobby of his. Not only did he appear on the March 2007 cover of Interview wielding a camera, Jolie reportedly gave him a Littman 45 single camera as a birthday gift. In 2005, Pitt collaborated with friend Steven Klein to create a photo portfolio of Jolie and Pitt in the feature “Domestic Bliss” for W Magazine.

Esquire’s September cover will be digital

Author: admin  //  Category: Fashion News

Imagine yourself going to a news stand and picking up Esquire’s September issue. Its cover isn’t made out of paper as usual, actually, it’s electronic!

The cover, which comes with its own battery pack, will flash “the 21st Century Begins Now.” A moving cover? That’s something new.

The electronic cover will be only used in  the 100,000 copies that appear on  newsstands — its overall circulation is about 720,000. So, you should be lucky to get one.

It would be great if we got our Vogues And Elles in a digital format too, so we could see models moving, not striking their dead poses!

Karl Lagerfeld’s alter ego is a teddy bear

Author: admin  //  Category: Designers, Fashion News

Steiff, the famous German maker of stuffed animals, is producing a limited-edition Karl bear.

A teddy bear in impenetrable black sunglasses and a high shirt collar with skinny lacquered jeans looks like the real Lagerfeld. Each boasts a signature Steiff gold button in the ear and five pivoting joints.

If you are a big fan of the Kaiser, you can buy his alter ego at Neiman Marcus in September, for $1,500.

“Bears are very nice, as long as you are nice to them,” said Lagerfeld.

Please, be nice to Karl.

The Critics didn’t like Coco Chanel’s TV film

Author: admin  //  Category: Fashion News

The Coco Chanel film for television starring Shirley McLaine has been slammed by critics, reports Female First. The highly anticipated  biopic has been cruelly described as lacking in structure, full of factual inaccuracies, and having ‘wooden’ acting.

“The first part quickly jumps to Chanel and her lovers (played by Oliver Sitruk and Sagamore Stevenin), who are all as wooden as a dressmaker’s dummies”, writes New York Times TV critic Linda Stasi.

She also says that the film is boring and is generally laughably crappy:

They should have called it “freely uninspired” since, after three looong hours of dull, awful, embarrassing dialogue and bad acting, you’ll feel that you may never get inspired by anything again.

Halal swimsuits for Muslim women

Author: admin  //  Category: Fashion News

Shereen Sabet, a Southern California woman has designed a line of swimsuits for Muslim women, who adhere to a modest dress code.

“I understand most people are accustomed to not seeing a lot of clothing on the beach or in the water,” Sabet said. “We don’t want to look like freaks or stick out like sore thumbs for being so covered up on the beach, but I wanted to help make water activity accessible to Muslim women.”

The suits look like a “hooded track suit or jogging outfit for the water”, which covers the  entire body,  except for the face, hands, and feet.

Diane Von Furstenberg, Isaac Mizrahi, Derek Lam, Vera Wang, Tracy Reese, and Charles Nolan – What do all these names have in common? You probably think, these are the designers who are going to do a collaboration for Target?

But no, surprise, they will all design for Barack Obama’s upcoming fashion line!

The renown designers all had less than a week to commit to the project, present a sketch to the campaign for approval, and then deliver a sample. The designers were free to use the candidate’s image and his red-white-and-blue rising sun logo, reports the Washington Post.
