In the August 2008 issue of Harpers Bazaar, Jessica Biel dressed in the most extravagant gowns from the American fall runways,  waltzes, plays ballerinas, and cha-chas with Diane von Furstenberg, Oscar de la Renta, Francisco Costa, Zac Posen and Wera Wang.

“I literally wore Umbro shorts, No Fear T-shirts, and sneakers until I was, like, 15. I didn’t care, and my mom didn’t care. I didn’t have fashion icons. I looked up to [soccer player] Mia Hamm.”

“I’m fascinated with the fashion world because I feel sort of intimidated. I feel like a kid with saucer eyes, soaking it all in and having the time of my life.”

For Resort 2009, designers had some fun and brought us pajama parties. The dress code: soft silky pants (Zac Posen and Cynthia Rowley) or playful jumpsuits (Diane von Furstenberg).

With eco-fashion trending so quickly into people’s wardrobes, Fur Fashion Week looks like a controversy to be sure. This year’s Fur Fashion Week, organized by FICA (Fur Information Council of America) will take place over the next two days, May 13 – 14, at which time, there will be 17 presentations, including those by Michael Kors, Bill Blass, Ralph Rucci, Isaac Mizrahi, Peter Som, Zandra Rhodes, Zac Posen, Angel Sanchez, Carmen Mark Valvo, and Kati Stern for Venexiana. We don’t know whether it will draw the attention of PETA and eco fashion defenders, but many designers used fur in their Fall/Winter 2008 collections. That makes a difference.
