Tim Gunn loves Michelle Obama’s style, and is not a fan of Cindy McCain’s look.

Author: admin  //  Category: Fashion Talk

“Cindy McCain looks like someone has twisted her ponytail into a knot and tried to give her a face-lift,” said Project Runway’s harshest judge Tim Gunn.

He told NY Magazine that Michelle has Cindy beat style-wise, hands down.

“There is no contest!! I mean, Michelle really epitomizes American style, and she’s not afraid to show her shape, she’s not afraid to show her sexiness without being the least bit inappropriate. She’s just an alluring woman. And Cindy with her suits and she’s all buttoned up, she’s just soooo — she just looks like she’s duct-taped! There is just something about her, and in a way it’s a metaphor about who she is!”

New York Fashion Week on your phone

Author: admin  //  Category: Fashion News

We have more reasons to love our digital century. STYLE.COM is introducing an iPhone application, that will allow us to watch runway shows — within hours of the last model’s exit from the catwalk — right on our on phones, during the upcoming New York Fashion Week. Morning shows should be available by afternoon, and evening shows the next morning.

We’re not exalted fashionistas, but it’s the best thing that could happen in September, for those who have no tickets to the shows in Bryant Park.

Author: admin  //  Category: Models

A solid gold statue of Kate Moss entitled Siren, will be on display in a new exhibition at the British Museum, Marie Claire reports.

The sculpture by artist Marc Quinn is worth £1.5 million, and the 50kg piece is said to be the largest gold statue created since the era of Ancient Egypt.

‘I thought the next thing to do would be to make a sculpture of the person who’s the ideal beauty of the moment,’ Quinn told  The Telegraph.

The exhibition will run from October 4 until January 25, 2009.

US Marie Claire September 2008 : Eva Mendes

Author: admin  //  Category: Celebs, Covergirl

We love when Eva Mendes strikes a pose in fashion ads and magazine covers, and are really pleased with her latest cover shoot. Eva, appearing in a stunning raspberry Gucci Fall 2008 draped gown, landed the September cover of Marie Claire.

Here are some extracts from her interview with the magazine:

On women’s strained friendships with each other:

“I don’t understand women who don’t like being with the girls. They say they’d rather be with the guys all the time? That it’s just so much easier? I’m calling bulls— on that.”

On Annette Bening being a true role model:

“She reminds me of one of those women back in the ‘40s and ‘50s. She’s a broad, and I want to be a broad. I mean, she’s like Ava Gardner or Bette Davis or Katherine Hepburn. Those women were broads. They said it like it was.”

On her life growing up:

“I was raised by parents who didn’t have much. We didn’t use whole pieces of paper towel. We shared, or used rags. Mom didn’t even want us flushing all the time.”

On believing the public doesn’t need to know everything about where she lives and how long she’s been with her boyfriend:

“Think about what this whole culture of celebrity has done to movie stars. It’s made them extinct. Actors used to carry films because people would have to actually go to the movies to see them. It was the only place. But now there’s none of that mystique, and so there’s less of a reason to buy a ticket.”

Helena Bonham Carter steps out in ugly shoes

Author: admin  //  Category: Celebs, Fashion horror, Footwear

Helena Bonham Carter is facing a real style drama by wearing this weird pair of shoes.

The 42-year-old actress stepped out in spring-heeled shoes called Z-CoiL Mary Janes. The spring heel, supported by a 3in steel coil, is designed to act as a shock absorber. The rounded toe at the ball of the foot has a 3/4in cushion which lessens the impact of walking and prevent wear and tear on ligaments.

Though we respect people who choose comfort instead of fashion, we can’t stand these UGLY shoes.

Marc Jacobs has named Russian fake lesbian duo t.A.T.u. as the faces of his autumn/winter line, reports Marie Claire.

We don’t know what the campaign will look like, but we are expecting something extraordinary. Usually Jacobs’ ads are always surprisingly bizarre and provoking.

Wallace & Gromit for Harvey Nichols

Author: admin  //  Category: Ad Campaigns

We absolutely love adverts that make us smile. We went ga-ga, when we saw the latest Harvey Nichols campaign, which features Wallace & Gromit sporting Paul Smith suits, D&G shirts, a Duchamp scarf, and ray-bans.  Another favorite, Lady Campanula Tottington also appears in the ads, wearing a black draped dress by Alexander McQueen, red patent shoes by Christian Louboutin, and a Zagliani metallic bronze ‘Puffy’ bag.

The ad campaign is being used to promote the new Harvey Nichols store in Bristol, which just opened. Bristol is the where Nick Park created Wallace & Gromit.
